Abstract: In 2002, J. Tripp conjectured that the minimal crossing number
of a knot coincides with the canonical genus of its Whitehead double.
In this talk, I'd like to give a brief survey for current state of
Tripp's conjecture in my knowledge and then discuss my recent progress
in the conjecture.
