〜Zuse Institute Berlinにおける産官学連携と日本における産官学連携〜
講演要旨：
Zuse Institute Berlin(ZIB)は，Fast Algorithms - Fast Computersを軸として研究を展開しているベルリン州立の公的な研究機関である．公的な研究機関ではあるが，財政面では公的な機関からの資金よりもサードパーティからの資金が増え続けている．現在，75%の研究活動費はサードパーティからの資金となっている．数学を駆使した最適化アルゴリズム開発とそれを実現するソフトウェア開発や高度な計算サービスという，完全にソフトウェア面に限定した研究機関としては，世界でも最も産官学連携に成功している研究機関ではないかと思われる．本発表では，ZIBが提供しているSCIP Optimization Suiteの開発グループの一員としての経験にもとづき，ZIBの最適化部署やDFG(German Research Foundation)の優先プログラムであるアルゴリズム工学において軸となっているアプリケーション駆動の研究サイクルを紹介するとともに，日本における産官学連携との相違に関して考察したい．
Title：Industrial‐Academic‐Government Cooperation for Research in Optimization and Algorithm Engineering
– Differences between ZIB and Universities in Japan –
Abstract:
The Zuse Institute Berlin (ZIB) is a research institute for applied mathematics and computer science. The research and service in ZIB is driven by the principle "Fast Algorithms - Fast Computers". Although ZIB’s basic funding is financed by the Federal State of Berlin, it also finances itself by third-party funds of public sponsors as well as funds from industrial cooperation. The trend of further reduction of public financing and an over-proportional increase in third-party project allocations continues. Currently, 75 % of the scientific research work is financed by third-party funds. Its main research activities are all software-oriented, that is, the development of mathematically supercharged optimization software and high performance and quality computing service etc. ZIB is one of the most successful software-oriented research institutes in the world. In this talk, I would like to share my experience as a staff of the development group of the SCIP Optimization Suite. I will introduce the research style of ZIB and the DFG (German Research Foundation) priority program Algorithm Engineering that is centered on an application-driven research cycle. I will discuss the research style in comparison with the Industrial‐Academic‐Government Cooperation in Japanese Universities.
