講演タイトル：レコメンデーションシステム -- 理論と実践



講演要旨：

インターネットのショッピングサイトで使われるレコメンデーションシステム（自動推薦システム）について紹介する。これは機械学習の問題として考えられており、様々な数学的モデルやアルゴリズムが提案されてきた。ここでは、それらに共通する基本的な考え方について概観する。また、実用的なシステムとアカデミックな論文の違いについても言及する。論文の中には巨大な計算リソースを仮定するものがあるが、実際のシステムでは現実的なコストで提供しなければならないという制約があり、計算時間とメモリ消費について強く意識する必要がある。

Title：Recommendation System -- Theory and Practice

Abstract:
In this talk, we introduce the recommendation system for shopping sites in the internet. This is considered as a machine learning problem, and various mathematical models and algorithms have been proposed in this area. We explore the fundamental ideas underlying commonly behind them. We also discuss the gap between the practical system and the academic papers, some of which assume huge computational resources. In the real world system, we have to be more conscious about computational time and memory consumption to provide a practical service within a feasible cost.
