How many number fields are there of fixed degree and Galois group, and bounded discriminant? What can we say in terms of asymptotic formulas, upper and lower bounds, conjectures, and so on? I will give an overview of what is known about this question, and what methods go into the proofs. The subject has seen an explosion of recent activity, and I will highlight some recent and ongoing work.
