講演要旨：
　A one-dimensional chain of Brownian particles has
one end fixed and the other moving slowly away, stretching
the chain. The particles interact via a pairwise potential
of finite range. We consider the chain to break when the
distance between two neighbouring particles exceeds the range
of the potential. We investigate how the speed of stretching
affects the breakpoint location in the limit of small noise.
This model is related to the rupture dynamics of polymers under
an external load. Joint work with Volker Betz (Warwick).
