Abstract:
We consider a chain of harmonic oscillators where one particle is in contact with a Langevin heat bath at temperature T. After a hyperbolic rescaling of space and time, the Wigner distribution of the energy converges to the solution of a transport equation for phonons with scattering, absorption and creation of phonons, in the point of contact with the thermostat. The scattering rate is a function of the incoming wave number and depends on the dispersion relation of the chain.
