概要
Public-key cryptography as it is used today is under attack from two directions. On one hand, quantum computing would undermine the foundations of the current algorithms of choice. On the other hand, the Public Key Infrastructures that link public keys to entities relevant at the application layer have been used as points of attacks, or as a lever for redefining the security services provided by protocols such as https. The talk will focus on the interface between application and public key cryptography, starting from security issues in the infrastructures supporting the internet, discuss issues related specifically to Public Key Infrastructures, propose taking a more differentiated view on the services required for secure internet use, and point to some applications of public key cryptography that do without any dedicated infrastructure at all.
This talk is organized in collaboration with Sakurai Laboratory in Department of Informatics and Information Security Group in Institute of Systems, Information Technologies and Nanotechnologies. The invitation of Prof. Gollmann is supported by Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.
