概要
Bike sharing systems (or so-called community bikes in Japan) become popular in recent years in modern metropolitan areas. They can serve as the first and last mile connection to the public transportation. Their success depends on the right decisions in station locations, bike inventories, and especially the effective strategies in repositioning bikes to minimize the shortage of bikes and empty stands. Ideas about how to formulate these problems as integer programs will be presented. In addition, the speaker will also introduce his recent research in resource constrained project scheduling for post-disaster management. In particular, he will explain how to schedule manpower or equipment to restore arcs damaged by disasters to rescue people in nodes with minimum total waiting time.
