Two problems of stability of a moving phase boundary at heat transfer problems:
(i) at a plane wave of laser-sustained evaporation of solids and
(ii) at self-similar crystal growth from an undercooled liquid are considered.
Both the problems may exhibit instabilities breaking the initial high (plane,
or spherical) symmetry. In both the cases the exact expressions for the
spectrum of unstable modes are obtained.
