概要
The stability of thin films falling down walls has attracted
attention due to its applications in coating and wall finishing.
In this lecture I present some results related with the
instability of thin films running down a vertical heated wall
which is deformed smoothly. Recently (Phys. Fluids (19) 074103
(2007)), I have shown in the isothermal case, that it is possible
to stabilize the free surface non linear instability by means of
"spatially resonant" sinusoidal deformations of the wall. This
is a passive method of stabilization of the free surface
deformations. I will show in this presentation that this effect
is also possible to occur when the fluid layer is subjected to
a temperature gradient. The limitations of the problem will
also be presented.
