In this talk we consider the pseudospectral bound for operators which are written as the sum of selfadjoint dissipative operator and skew-adjoint operator. We present a general framework to obtain the pseudospectral bound that leads to a nontrivial (enhanced) dissipation. Our approach is applicable to the case when the skew-adjoint operator contains a nonlocal term, which appears naturally in the stability analysis of some viscous incompressible flows such as the Kolmogorov flow and the Lamb-Oseen flow. This talk is based on a joint work with Slim Ibrahim (UBC) and Nader Masmoudi (NYU).
