My research area is the theory of operator algebras, in particular
C*-algebras. Recently, I have been working on the structure of
inclusions of simple C*-algebras arising from the actions of compact
groups, compact quantum groups, and tensor categories. I am also
interested in describing symmetries, such as group actions, induced by
abstract inclusions of C*-algebras. In the theory of von Neumann
algebras, the structure of subfactors has been well studied and many
interesting results are known. By working on analogues for C*-algebras,
I aim to clarify the differences with von Neumann algebras and solve
related technical problems particular to C*-algebras.
