The Faculty of Mathematics in Kyushu University consists of about 70 mathematicians and mathematical scientists. They are engaged in first-rate research activities and in charge of overall mathematical educations in Kyushu University, such as calculus and linear algebra for the first and the second year students, basic mathematics for students in engineering, and the undergraduate and graduate courses for math students.
In September 2009, the Faculty of Mathematics has moved to the new Ito campus, where the Faculty of Engineering and the body of general education were already settled. We believe we have hereby better and improved education and research environment.
As you see from our website, we have the five year ongoing project, MEXT’s Global COE program “Math-for-industry, Education and Research Hub” adopted in FY2008. We moreover are preparing to launch “Institute of Math-for-Industry” in April 2011. We will inform the details later.
The Faculty of Mathematics in Kyushu University, formerly the Department of Mathematics, has a tradition of about 70 years of excellent research and education. All of the faculty members and staff will do their best to keep and enhance further the standard of our research and education.
