The IMI Colloquium in January | Date:Wednesday, 16 January 2013 16:15- tea time (at common room) 16:45-17:45 lecture | Place:Lecture Room L-1 (3F, IMI, Kyushu University) | Speaker:Naonori UEDA, Ph.D. (Director of NTT Communication Science Laboratories) | | Title:Statisitical machine learning techniques for the era of Big Data | | Abstract: The spread of social media and mobile information terminals has accelerated in recent years, and huge quantities of digital data are now being produced and stored throughout the world. We can say that the era of “big data” is now upon us. For research and business applications, it is vital to have some way of extracting new value from these huge and diverse data resources. In this talk, I introduce the recent achievements of research of machine learning for big data, focusing on Bayesian probabilistic models. | | | IMI Colloquium Report |
