The IMI Colloquium in October | Date:Wednesday, 16 October 2013 16:45-17:45 lecture | Place:Lecture Room L-1 (3F, IMI, Kyushu University) | Speaker:Fusashi Nakamura (Ph.D., Wolfram Research Asia Limited) | | Title:"Mathematical view: is it useful in business scenes ?" | | Abstract: The evolution of the computer and related technologies in recent years have enabled us to utilize high level mathematical formula and theories in the R&D activities of innovative products and services. While, we can see in many business scenes mathematical view point and its thinking way could be applied to effectively organize daily operations and/or project managements. Precisely speaking, they, if applied flexibly and effectively, gives a specialist an overview what he/she is working on and an insight to put forth his/her specialty in a more systematic way, or makes the specialist a generalist who, even without using any mathematics theory itself, can lead a project to a successful end even in a hard environment. We will discuss how we transfer these knowledge and experience, which I have obtained in my career in IT industry around 20 years, to students who study mathematics at a university, where I have been teaching CG programming more than 15 years, and will work for a company after their graduate. | | IMI Colloquium Report | |
