The IMI Colloquium in November | Date:Wednesday, 19 November 2014 16:45-17:45 lecture | Place:Lecture Room L-1 (3F, IMI, Kyushu University) | Speaker:Takashi ISOAKI (Sony Computer Science Laboratories) | | Title:Statistical Inference in Causal Information and its Application to Complex Systems | | Abstract: The size of accumulated data is rapidly increasing as the buzzword, Big Data, suggests. However, there seem to be many cases where such data are not effectively utilized. There are some causes for this such as the shortage of human resources to analyze data and effective tools. I have tackled issues of inference in direct correlations and causal relations as far as possible among variables in observed data from the latter point of view. I will present recent topics, a method that I developed, and remaining issues in the domain in this talk. I will also provide a case example in a complex system to which the method was applied, and explain the effectiveness and possibilities of the approach to analyses of data. | | | IMI Colloquium Report |
