Abstract:
In this talk I will describe how the Clark-Ocone formula from Malliavin Calculus can be used to provide upper bounds on the exponential moments of certain Brownian functionals appearing in quantum mechanics. The chief motivation for the bounds is the problem of a non-relativistic particle interacting with a quantum field. After explaining in general terms how the bounds can be obtained, I will proceed to apply them to questions related to the stability of matter in many-body quantum mechanics, which will be introduced as needed. Part of the content of this talk is joint work with Lawrence E. Thomas from the University of Virginia, USA.
