Abstract:
In the theory of condensed-matter physics, twisted equivariant K-theory (in the sense of Freed-Moore) of the torus is known to classify the topological phases of matter. For both theoretical and computational reasons, it is useful to generalize this twisted equivariant K-theory to the category of C*-algebras. In this talk I will introduce the foundation of the twisted equivariant K-theory for C*-algebras and its use in the theory of topological phases.
