Abstract:
Around 1980, ideas of differentiable spaces were introduced independently by K. T. Chen and J. M. Souriau. A Chen space -- a differentiable space introduced by Chen -- was applied to the theory of iterated integrals. On the other hand a diffeological space -- a differentiable space introduced by Souriau -- was developed mainly from theoretical aspects by P. Iglesias-Zemmour and other researchers. Because the idea of a diffeological space includes various kinds of spaces such as a smooth manifold and also just a topological space, a question arises: what is a `good' space? For example, a smooth manifold, Satake's V-manifold and a stratified space enjoy the property called reflexivity, though smooth CW complexes in the sense of Iwase-Izumida or Kihara fail to satisfy the property. In this talk, we introduce a new idea of a smooth CW complex called a fat smooth CW complex and give some examples. We further show that it satisfies reflexivity provided that it is regular and of finite dimension.
