Abstract:
The trivializing number is a numerical invariant of knots, which measures how far a given knot is from the trivial knot. However, it is quite difficult to determine the trivializing number of a given knot, especially for knots with large crossing numbers. In this talk, I will give some results about the trivializing numbers of the minimal diagrams of positive 2-bridge knots. Furthermore, I would like to present some relationships between the trivializing number and the unknotting number of a knot.
