MARUYAMA, Osamu / Associate Professor

We are interested in developing efficient algorithms and software for classification, regression, and prediction problems in bioinformatics, based on techniques of statistical machine learning. Those computational problems in bioinformatics are good applications of machine learning due to various available biological data. We are addressing problems related to protein-protein interactions, including the protein complex prediction problem. In those research, we have proposed novel approaching based on random walks, Naive Bayes classifiers, and sampling (Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC)) methods.
