NINOMIYA, Yoshiyuki / Guest Professor
My main research topic is statistical theory for irregular statistical models. The meaning of “irregular model” is not rare model to be used but the model to which usual statistical theory cannot be applied. Indeed, changepoint models, mixture models, hidden Markov models, neural network models and factor analysis models are included in the irregular statistical models, and they are well used in econometrics, discriminant analysis, phonetic recognition, nonlinear regression analysis and psychometrics, respectively. For these models, to construct statistical theory such as model selection and to apply it to each field is my target.
